Nominations for "Physician of the Year 2025" have launched

Nominations for “Physician of the Year 2025” have launched. For the 22nd time, the Bulgarian Medical Association will celebrate Bulgarian Physician’s Day on October 19. The official ceremony will take place one day later, on October 20, at the National History Museum in Sofia, according to the professional organization.

Traditionally, the call for nominations in the five categories for “Physician of the Year” begins at the end of August:

1. “Long-term activity in the field of medicine and active contribution to the development of a specialty”

2. “Contribution to the development and application of innovative medicine and unique techniques”

3. “You Are Our Future” – an award for the young medical hopes of Bulgaria

4. “Contribution to the development and consolidation of the professional organization’s prestige”

5. “Physician of the Year 2025”

For the third consecutive year, the special “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” award for medical dedication and ethics will also be presented.

Proposals must specify the category for which the candidate is being nominated and include a brief professional biography highlighting key merits, international participation, and other achievements.

Nominations may be submitted by Regional Medical Colleges, specialty societies, healthcare facilities, departments, individual physicians, and patients.

A commission composed of representatives from the BMA leadership will review all proposals and determine the winners. Nominations submitted by Regional Medical Colleges carry the most weight, followed by those from specialty societies, healthcare facilities, departments, etc.
