Plovdiv declares flu epidemic, Dobrich lifts it

Plovdiv has declared a flu epidemic. Anti-epidemic measures will be introduced from Wednesday, January 28, until February 6, according to the Ministry of Health.

During this period, in-person classes and extracurricular activities are suspended, with the exception of academic olympiads. Hospital visitations, as well as visits to specialized social service institutions and residential-type social services for children and adults, are restricted. Preventive check-ups, mandatory immunizations, and re-immunizations are also suspended.

The same measures remain in effect for the Burgas region until January 30. However, the flu epidemic has already been lifted in Dobrich, and the same is expected in Varna, where it remains in effect until tomorrow, January 27, the health ministry added.

Data for the past week (January 19-25) shows a continuing upward trend in morbidity. Nationally, 149.46 cases per 10,000 people have been reported.

The total number of medical examinations registered in the National Health Information System for the period is 130,751, compared to 121,250 the previous week. The highest growth is among children, at 10.5% and 12.7% in the 0-4 and 5-14 age groups, respectively.
