The Council of Ministers allocates an additional BGN 37.8 million for healthcare
By a decree of the Council of Ministers, additional funds amounting to BGN 30 million are approved for the 2025 budget of the Ministry of Health, intended for transfer to the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund. The funds are for financing activities outside the scope of compulsory health insurance related to the treatment of persons under and over 18 years of age under Art. 82, para. 1a, 3, and 6 of the Health Act, the government press office announced.
The necessary financing is expected to be provided at the expense of the 2025 central budget expenditures. The allocated funds will ensure adequate, consistent, and timely financing of activities that are a state responsibility by law, thereby preventing social tension, the Council of Ministers specified.
With another government decree, the cabinet approved additional expenditures for the 2025 budget of the Ministry of Health in the amount of BGN 7.8 million, again at the expense of the central budget. The funding will allow for the organization and implementation of national screening programs for the early detection of malignant neoplasms of the cervix and the colon.
The government also adopted a decree approving internally compensated changes in the approved expenditures for policies and budget programs of the Ministry of Health for 2025. The changes are necessitated primarily by savings from unrealized public procurements, with the freed resources being directed toward activities with immediate implementation. An internal redistribution of personnel costs has also been carried out without changing their total amount. The approved adjustments are within the ministry’s approved budget and will not impact the state budget.
