To date, 9 of the cases have been laboratory-confirmed, while confirmation is pending for the others. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry recalls that the first eight cases were registered last week in children aged 5 months to 7 years. The newly infected are aged between 11 months and 15 years, including one member of the medical staff. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, 14 of the patients are hospitalized, and two children have already been discharged.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Health recommends that children with symptoms such as a rash, red eyes, and high fever be isolated and that medical assistance be sought.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health authorities urge parents to check their children&#8217;s immunization status and, in case of gaps, to contact their general practitioner.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTimely immunization is the most reliable way to protect children from severe illness and to limit its spread,\u201d the Ministry of Health emphasized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>17 children have contracted measles in the municipality of Byala Slatina, Vratsa region, the Ministry of Health reports.
