15,000 doses of the nasal seasonal flu vaccine for children have already been delivered to Bulgaria, according to the Ministry of Health’s specialized immunization website, “Plus Me.”
The distribution of vaccines to pharmacies across the country will begin tomorrow.

The nasal flu vaccine is intended for children aged 2 years and older and is administered via a nasal spray. For children under 9 years of age who have not previously been vaccinated against influenza, a two-dose regimen is recommended, with the doses administered at a 28-day interval.

Immunization is performed by a physician in a healthcare facility or at an immunization clinic of the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI), following the purchase of the vaccine by parents from a pharmacy.

The Ministry of Health reminds that seasonal flu vaccination is recommended for all children, but is particularly important for those with chronic conditions, in whom influenza infection can cause serious complications and a deterioration of overall health.

The nasal vaccine is not administered to children with immunodeficiency or those undergoing immunosuppressive treatment. It is recommended that immunization be completed before the start of the flu season, although it remains possible during a flu epidemic.
