A total of 225 measles cases have been registered in Bulgaria as of May 4, according to data from the Ministry of Health. An additional 14 cases were dismissed following a lack of laboratory confirmation.

The most serious spread of the disease is observed in Vratsa, where 150 cases have been reported. This is followed by Pleven with 48 and Lovech with 18. A smaller number of infections have been recorded in Sofia City (4), Varna (3), Montana (1), and Sofia Province (1).

In terms of morbidity rates, the highest remains in Vratsa—over 100 cases per 100,000 people—while levels in other regions are significantly lower.

Children are the most affected group—189 of all cases, or approximately 84%, are among individuals under 18 years of age.

Data shows that a significant portion of those infected had not been immunized. A total of 118 people were not vaccinated due to being under the required age or for other reasons, while the immunization status of 19 others remains unknown. For the remaining cases, there is information regarding administered vaccines.

In response to the spread of the infection since the start of the epidemic in the country, over 28,000 vaccines against measles, mumps, and rubella have been administered.
