The Ministry of Health and the American Chamber of Commerce Discuss Healthcare Reforms and Sustainability

The Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mikhail Okoliyski, held a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, dedicated to key issues regarding the development and sustainability of the healthcare system. This was reported by the Ministry.

During the discussion, the work of the Chamber’s Health Committee was presented, which has prepared an analysis with specific proposals for improvements. As part of the initiative, three working groups have been formed: on transparency in spending and the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund, on the efficiency of hospital care, and on opportunities for alternative financing.

The participants outlined three main priorities that should guide health policies: transparency, continuity, and predictability. The importance of the partnership between institutions and business for the introduction of innovations and improving access to modern medical solutions was emphasized.

The Chamber representatives highlighted the need for better coordination among all stakeholders in the system to ensure effective management and sustainable use of public resources.

During the meeting, the progress of the Ministry of Health during the short mandate of the caretaker government was acknowledged, and hope was expressed that the initiated reforms would be built upon and continue in the long term.
