Ivanka Dineva Reinstated as Head of RHI-Sofia Following Court Ruling

Ivanka Dineva has been reinstated as Director of the Sofia Regional Health Insurance Fund, effective today, the National Health Insurance Fund confirmed.

Ms. Dineva held this position from 2020 to 2022, when she was dismissed. In 2023, the court ruled her dismissal unlawful and ordered her reinstatement. In the meantime, however, she assumed the leadership of the Medical Supervision Executive Agency, which delayed the practical implementation of the ruling.

On April 16 of this year, the Sofia City Court finalized the lower court’s decision, mandating the Governor of the NHIF to immediately reinstate Ms. Dineva as Director of the Sofia Regional Health Insurance Fund.

The previous director of the Sofia fund, Emil Velchovski, has been reassigned to the NHIF Inspectorate.
