Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov remains at the helm of the Specialized Hospital for Children's Diseases
The Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mikhail Okoliyski, has not accepted the resignation of Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov as Director of the “Prof. Ivan Mitev” Specialized Hospital for Children’s Diseases.
The two held a meeting at the Ministry of Health, during which they discussed pressing issues at the medical facility, as well as the most urgent problems in the sector.
“I have stated that maternal and child health will be my personal priority, and your reinstatement as Director of the only specialized hospital for children is a clear sign of this. Pediatric healthcare requires a calm environment, professionalism, and consistency so that medical teams can work confidently and with the necessary care for young patients,” noted Assoc. Prof. Okoliyski.
For his part, Dr. Zdravkov indicated that he accepts the decision with a sense of responsibility and will continue to work for the stability and development of the medical facility, as well as for the improvement of conditions. He emphasized that the primary goal remains ensuring high-quality and timely medical care for children and support for the specialists working at the hospital.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain an active dialogue between the management of the medical facility and the Ministry of Health, aiming for sustainable solutions to key issues in pediatric healthcare.
As a reminder, on February 10, the Director of the Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, submitted his resignation, which was immediately accepted. On the same day, the then-minister Silvi Kirilov announced that Dr. Maria Ekimova-Peneva would serve as acting director.
