Another Order Prohibiting the Export of Medicines Due to Shortages
The Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Silvi Kirilov, has issued a new order for the temporary restriction of the export of certain medications. The measure once again covers anti-diabetic medicinal products and some antibiotics, and this time a preparation used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease has been added to the list. The ban is in effect until January 23.
Among those affected are anti-diabetic medicines from the groups “Insulins and analogues,” “Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors,” and “Blood glucose lowering drugs, excluding insulins.” Restrictions are also imposed on antibacterial products for systemic use, as well as medications from the aminosalicylic acid group and similar agents.
According to the Ministry of Health’s reasoning, the ban is being imposed due to supply difficulties, increased consumption, irregular deliveries, and refusals from wholesalers, which creates a risk for patient access to necessary medicines.
The full order, containing the names of the medications prohibited for export, can be found here.
