Anthropic has announced the launch of Claude for Healthcare—a new suite of artificial intelligence tools designed for healthcare systems, payers, and patients, as reported by pharmaphorum. The announcement was made at the start of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco.

The newly developed product expands the use of large language models in healthcare by adding “connectors”—links to medical information systems such as the CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) database, healthcare provider registries, and PubMed. This allows the AI to retrieve relevant medical information, facilitate report generation, and assist patients in understanding their health data.

Anthropic reports that the new toolkit can assist clinicians and administrators by automating labor-intensive tasks such as report preparation and document processing, as well as helping patients interpret results and health information.

This development follows OpenAI’s introduction of ChatGPT for Health—a similar platform that also aims to integrate artificial intelligence with medical data and analytics. Both platforms strive to facilitate the work of healthcare professionals and patients in the use and interpretation of medical information.
