A Memorandum of Understanding between the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) and the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) was signed by Dr. Nikolay Branzalov and the Deputy Secretary General of the CMA, Liang Chunqi, the BMA reports.

The Memorandum of Understanding, which is the first of its kind between the Bulgarian Medical Association and the Chinese Medical Association, aims to deepen and implement the strategic partnership between China and Bulgaria and to promote professional cooperation in the field of medicine between the two countries. Based on the idea of mutually beneficial cooperation and in a spirit of friendship, the Bulgarian Medical Association and the Chinese Medical Association reached an agreement on the following matters of cooperation:

– Both parties will establish a mechanism for regular exchange, including high-level bilateral visits;

– Both parties will inform each other about the international conferences they organize and will offer their members discounts on registration fees for the respective conferences, etc.

During the event, organized by the China NGO Network for International Exchange (CNIE) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Bulgaria, calligraphy, music, traditional Chinese clothing, intangible cultural heritage, and tastes from the East and West—a meeting of Chinese baijiu and wine—were also presented.

Founded in 1915, the Chinese Medical Association is an academic, social, and non-profit organization uniting over 700,000 medical professionals. With its 91 specialized societies and active contacts with 39 international and regional medical organizations, the CMA holds a leading position in the global medical community. The CMA chairs the Health Committee of the CNIE (China NGO Network for International Exchange). Under their chairmanship, 23 institutions work on health-related topics.

The Association annually organizes nearly 200 scientific conferences—both in China and worldwide—and publishes over 200 scientific journals in print and electronic formats, becoming a hub for scientific exchange and innovation in healthcare.
