Construction Begins on Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery Center at St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital
The Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Silvi Kirilov, MD, PhD, has launched the construction of a new, ultra-modern Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery Center at St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital EAD. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Yavor Penchev, the director of the medical facility, Dr. Nikolay Stoilov, and the Governor of Sofia City, Mr. Stefan Arsov, according to the Ministry of Health.
“This project is a logical continuation of our efforts to provide patients with access to the latest medical achievements and represents a real step forward in the fight against oncological diseases. The modern equipment will allow for precision, speed, gentle impact, and the possibility of personalized medicine, which are at the core of contemporary oncological care,” stated Assoc. Prof. Kirilov.
The Center will be located on 600 sq. m. and will be equipped with a latest-generation linear accelerator. The project is valued at over 8 million euros including VAT. Funding for the high-tech complex, which incorporates the most advanced radiotherapy technologies, is provided under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, “Healthcare” component, as part of the “Modernizing the System for Diagnosis and Treatment of Oncological Diseases in the Country” investment.
The Center is scheduled to open its doors to patients by the end of this summer.
