Dr. Atanas Atanasov is the new director of the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision

Dr. Atanas Atanasov is the new director of the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision (EAMS), the Ministry of Health announced. He graduated from the Medical University of Varna and specialized in Surgery in Sofia. He also holds a doctoral degree in Public Health and Health Management.

He has extensive management experience within the healthcare system, including leading municipal and state medical institutions.

A primary priority for the new director will be strengthening control within the healthcare system, ensuring faster response times to citizen reports, and increasing transparency in the activities of the EAMS.

Regarding organ donation and transplantation, Dr. Atanasov will work toward the digitalization of the transplant waiting list and improving coordination between the medical institutions involved in the donation and transplantation process, the ministry concluded.
