The outgoing Minister of Health, Silvi Kirilov, has issued a new order prohibiting the export of certain medicinal products. Unlike the practice of previous ministers, who introduced restrictions for a period of one month, the current ban is once again for a duration of two months.

In the section related to diabetes treatment, the order includes medications from the groups “Insulins and analogues,” “Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors,” and “Blood glucose lowering drugs, excluding insulins.”

The restriction also covers the export of certain medicines from the groups “Antibacterials for systemic use,” “Aminosalicylic acid and similar agents,” “Other drugs affecting bone structure and mineralization,” as well as “Other anti-anemic preparations.”

The reasons cited for imposing the ban once again include supply issues for pharmacies and patients, reports of medication shortages, difficulties or refusals from wholesale warehouses, and delays in deliveries or the delivery of smaller quantities than requested.

The order will remain in effect until March 24, 2026.

The specific medications from all groups prohibited for export, as well as the detailed reasons for the ban, can be found in the outgoing minister’s order HERE.
