Following a Donor Situation in Silistra: Two Kidney Transplants Performed at Alexandrovska University Hospital

Two individuals were given a chance for a new life after the relatives of a 57-year-old man made the noble decision to donate his organs. The donor situation was facilitated by a team from MBAL Silistra AD, coordinated by Dr. Radoslav Nedelchev and his deputy, Dr. Dancho Danailov, according to the Medical Supervision Executive Agency.

A crew from the Bulgarian Air Force, operating a C-27J Spartan aircraft, successfully completed a mission to provide air transport for the medical team responsible for the organ procurement.

As a result: At Alexandrovska University Hospital, a medical team from the Clinic of Urology, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Dimitrov, transplanted kidneys into two patients—men aged 61 and 63. Due to medical reasons, no other organs were transplanted.

According to information from the medical facility, the patients are in good general condition and remain under medical observation in intensive care.
