For the first time, the NHIF budget deficit is in the revenue section
For the first time, the deficit in the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund has been formed in its revenue section, announced the Governor of the NHIF, Assoc. Prof. Petko Stefanovski, after a meeting of the Supervisory Board, as reported by Zdrave.net.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, nearly 23 million BGN in health insurance contributions will currently not be collected by the NRA, which necessitates a redistribution of funds.
“Next week we will hold a new meeting of the Supervisory Board to make such an internal compensation so that we can end the year with a balanced budget,” stated Assoc. Prof. Stefanovski.
The Supervisory Board has requested official information from the Executive Director of the NRA regarding the reasons for the uncollected contributions.
At today’s meeting, a decision was made to open the NHIF reserve, with 146 million BGN allocated from it to cover over-limit activities in hospital care for 2025.
“With 131 million BGN, we compensated for the remaining over-limit activity, including the activity for the month of November, which will be paid in December,” Assoc. Prof. Stefanovski further specified.
