Measles cases in Bulgaria reach 191

The total number of registered measles cases in Bulgaria has risen to 191 as of April 27, according to data from the Ministry of Health. In the last 24 hours alone, 16 new infections have been reported.

The new cases are distributed across three regions: Pleven (8), Vratsa (6), and Lovech (2). The patients range in age from newborns to 50 years old.

By the end of the previous week, the total number of cases was 175, with the Vratsa region remaining the most affected. Cases have also been registered in Pleven, Lovech, Sofia City, Varna, Montana, and the Sofia Region.

According to health authorities, a significant portion of the patients had not been immunized—90 individuals due to age or other reasons—while the immunization status of 13 others remains unclear. For the rest, there is data indicating they had received a vaccine.

Since the beginning of the infection’s spread in the country, over 23,500 vaccines against measles, mumps, and rubella have been administered, with efforts focused on containing the spread of the disease.
