Healthcare salaries have increased by 8.3% compared to last year. Nearly 3.6849 billion BGN more was paid out for salaries in 2025 compared to 2024, representing a growth of 18.2%, reported Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova at the beginning of the regular Council of Ministers meeting, according to the government press office.

According to her, the accelerated implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan has also led to an increase in capital expenditures by 2 billion BGN.

“We can categorically state that any rumors of Bulgarian citizens becoming poorer and incomes decreasing are absolutely false,” Petkova emphasized.

According to Ministry of Finance data, salaries in education increased by 907.2 million BGN, and in healthcare by over 98 million BGN, representing an 8.3% growth compared to last year. Incomes in defense rose by 633.3 million BGN, and in the police and internal order system by 1.2805 billion BGN.

The Finance Minister added that social and health insurance payments in 2025 are 4.161 billion BGN higher than in 2024, a growth of 12%. For pensions alone, the increase is 2.428 billion BGN, or 11.2% more than the previous year.

“The results speak for themselves. Any claims that Bulgarian citizens are becoming poorer are absolutely groundless,” Minister Petkova stated, emphasizing that the trend in recent months shows steady income growth across all major sectors.
