New HIV/AIDS Section in eHealth for International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day

To mark the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day, observed on the third Sunday of May, a new section has been created in the “Health Library” of the eHealth mobile app and the my.his.bg portal. This was announced by the Ministry of Health.

The section contains verified information on transmission routes, options for free and anonymous testing, treatment, and living with HIV, as well as materials regarding the stigma and public attitudes toward people living with the infection.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that HIV is not transmitted through casual daily contact, and modern therapy allows those affected to lead long and fulfilling lives.

The motto of this year’s campaign is “Don’t say that! Words leave traces,” with an emphasis on discrimination and the language society uses when discussing people living with HIV.

The third stage of the National ANTI-AIDS Campaign of the Ministry of Health, organized jointly with the National Center of Public Health and Analyses and the Bulgarian Red Cross, also takes place on the third Sunday of May.

On May 17, regional health inspectorates in the 28 districts of the country, together with the youth structures of the Bulgarian Red Cross, will organize information initiatives and campaigns. The face of this year’s initiative is Azis.
