On October 20, the Bulgarian Medical Association will honor Bulgaria's best doctors for 2025.

The official ceremony for the Bulgarian Medical Association’s annual “Doctor of the Year – 2025” awards will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the National History Museum (16 Vitoshko Lale St., Sofia). This was announced by the professional organization.

For the 22nd consecutive year, the BMA will honor prominent representatives of the medical profession from across the country in the traditional categories:

• “Long-term activity in the field of medicine and active contribution to the development of a specialty”;
• “Contribution to the development and application of innovative medicine and unique techniques”;
• “You Are Our Future” – an award for the young medical prospects of Bulgaria;
• “Contribution to the development and establishment of the professional organization’s prestige”;
• “Doctor of the Year 2025”.

For the third consecutive year, a special distinction for medical dedication and ethics will be awarded – “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov”, dedicated to medics who have demonstrated exceptional humanity and professionalism in the line of duty.

Dozens of nominations for deserving doctors from across the country were submitted to the Bulgarian Medical Association during the procedure that concluded on September 30. A commission, including representatives of the BMA leadership, reviewed all proposals and determined this year’s award winners.

The names of the winners will be announced at the official ceremony on October 20.
