Our fourth medical helicopter has arrived
The fourth helicopter designated for emergency medical air services has arrived in Bulgaria, according to the Ministry of Health.
The new air ambulance will be based at the hangar of the Georgi Benkovski Higher Air Force School in Dolna Mitropolia, from where it will serve the wide perimeter of the region and contribute significantly to the development of emergency medical air services in the country.
The acceptance protocol between the Bulgarian side and the contractor is expected to be finalized by the end of the month. Following its signing, registration and licensing procedures will take place, which are necessary for operational readiness.
The arrival of the fifth helicopter is expected by the end of this year, with the delivery of the final three planned for 2026.
Six properties have been designated for the construction of helicopter bases. Currently, one helicopter is positioned at the operational base in Sofia and two in Sliven. The new helicopter is already located in Dolna Mitropolia. The remaining units will be distributed among Plovdiv, the village of Gabrovnitsa (Montana municipality), and the village of Buhovtsi (Targovishte municipality).
