Outgoing Health Minister Approves Code of Professional Ethics for Physician Assistants

The outgoing Minister of Health has issued a draft order for the approval of the Code of Professional Ethics for Physician Assistants, adopted during the First National Constituent Congress of the Bulgarian Union of Physician Assistants and Feldschers.

The draft order was prepared in compliance with the requirements of the Professional Organizations Act, which mandates the Minister of Health to approve and publish in the State Gazette the adopted, amended, or supplemented codes of professional ethics of professional organizations following a decision by their congress.

The adopted code introduces fundamental principles and rules for professional and moral conduct that physician assistants must adhere to when practicing their profession and fulfilling their professional duties.

The document aims to regulate general ethical standards in the practice of the physician assistant profession and to ensure that these medical specialists apply established ethical principles within their competencies and in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The expected effect of implementing the code is the creation of a clear ethical framework for the professional activities of physician assistants, contributing to the improvement of the quality of healthcare services they provide and strengthening trust in the profession.
