Prof. Antonia Dimova, Dr. Petar Gribnev, and Vladimir Afenliev are the three new Deputy Ministers of Health joining the team of the caretaker Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mikhail Okoliyski. These are Prof. Antonia Dimova, Dr. Petar Gribnev, and Vladimir Afenliev, according to information published on the ministry’s website.

Prof. Antonia Dimova, PhD is an expert in the field of public health, health management, and health policy with a long academic career at the Medical University of Varna. She has served as head of department, vice-dean, and dean of the Faculty of Public Health. She holds a doctoral degree in social medicine and participates in international expert networks for the WHO and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies.

Dr. Petar Gribnev, PhD is a surgeon with over 20 years of professional experience. He graduated in medicine from the Medical University of Sofia, holds a specialty in surgery, and a Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Management. He has worked at Alexandrovska Hospital and previously served as Deputy Minister of Health between 2021 and 2022. He also has experience in the health insurance system and the executive branch.

Vladimir Afenliev is a specialist with management experience in health policy and the pharmaceutical sector. He graduated from the University of National and World Economy and holds postgraduate qualifications in strategic management. He has held leadership positions in pharmaceutical companies and served as a director at the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), responsible for drug policy and medical devices.
