The Government Adopted a National Action Plan Against Antimicrobial Resistance
The Council of Ministers approved the National Action Plan Against Antimicrobial Resistance for the 2026–2029 period and a Decision to approve funding for the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food for 2026. This was reported by the government press office.
The primary objective of the program is to limit antimicrobial resistance within the framework of the World Health Organization’s “One Health” concept, which addresses the interconnected challenges in human and veterinary medicine, as well as environmental impact.
The program provides for the strengthening of infection control and prevention through proactive measures, the implementation of good hygiene practices, and effective anti-epidemic measures. Among the leading priorities is the optimization of antibiotic use in humans and animals to achieve a lasting improvement in public health indicators.
The implementation of the National Program will require coordinated efforts between institutions involved in human and veterinary medicine, environmental and water protection, as well as the provision of necessary human and financial resources.
