The Government Designates MBAL "Burgasmed" as a University Hospital

The Council of Ministers has adopted a decision granting the status of a university hospital to the Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment “Burgasmed” Ltd. – Burgas. This was announced by the government press office.

In accordance with the provisions of the Medical Establishments Act, university hospitals may be multi-profile or specialized structures where, alongside medical activities, clinical training and academic preparation are conducted. These institutions provide education for students and doctoral candidates in medicine, dental medicine, and pharmacy, as well as practical training for students in the “Healthcare” professional field. University medical facilities also participate in the postgraduate training of physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and healthcare specialists.

The status of a university hospital is granted by the Council of Ministers upon the proposal of the Minister of Health for a specified term. The proposal is prepared based on a reasoned request from the Rector of the respective higher education institution, coordinated with the management of the medical facility.
