The Council of Ministers has adopted a decree amending and supplementing regulatory acts, updating the minimum qualification requirements and training for a number of medical professions, the government press office announced.

The adopted decree ensures the full transposition of European Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/782 of March 4, 2024, which amends Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications. The changes affect the minimum requirements for the professions of “general care nurse,” “dentist,” and “pharmacist.”

At the same time, the uniform state requirements for training in the specialties of “medicine,” “dental medicine,” “pharmacy,” “nurse,” “midwife,” and “physician assistant” are also being updated. The amendments were made based on reasoned proposals adopted unanimously by all higher education institutions in the country that train students in these specialties.

The directive refines both the qualification requirements and the knowledge and skills that future medical professionals must acquire during their training. The goal is to align curricula with developments in medical science, technological progress, and contemporary healthcare standards within the European Union.

The Council of Ministers emphasizes that these changes will contribute to the better preparation of medical personnel and facilitate the recognition of their professional qualifications within the EU.
