Three new medicinal products have been included in the Positive Drug List and will be fully reimbursed by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). They are intended for the home treatment of children up to 7 years of age with acute infections, the Ministry of Health announced. This brings the total number of free medications for this age group to five.

These are antibiotics used for upper and lower respiratory tract infections, otitis, as well as skin and soft tissue infections.

The National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products is currently reviewing four additional new proposals. These include antibacterial and antiviral drugs, and a decision on the adoption of one further product is expected.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the Ministry and the Council are making targeted efforts to ensure that the process of evaluating and including new medicinal products in the Positive Drug List is carried out as a priority and within short timeframes, so that children have timely access to the necessary therapy covered by the NHIF.
