Vaccines from the last 20 years - available in the electronic health record
Historical data on immunizations administered to Bulgarian citizens have now been integrated into electronic health records, the Ministry of Health reports.
The Ministry expresses its gratitude to the National Health Insurance Fund for the data provided and to Information Services JSC for the technical processing and transfer of the information.
Over 19 million records of vaccines administered since 2005 have been processed and integrated—including all mandatory immunizations and boosters, as well as recommended vaccines registered in the NHIF system.
As a result, the electronic health records of over 4 million citizens now contain a complete immunization history. Parents of children under 18 also have automatic access to their children’s health records through the National Health Information System (NHIS) and the eHealth mobile application.
Due to changes in vaccine registration nomenclatures over the last two decades, numerous checks were performed during the transfer to minimize potential errors and duplications.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that this is another important step in the development of the electronic patient record—moving toward more reliable, structured, and easily accessible medical information for citizens and medical professionals.
