Vladimir Afenliev Appointed Head of the Transparency Commission at the Council of Ministers

The Council of Ministers has adopted a decision to change the composition of the Transparency Commission under the Law on Medicinal Products in Human Medicine, according to the government press office. Vladimir Afenliev has been appointed as the Chairman of the Commission, replacing Dr. Boyko Penkov.

Mr. Afenliev is a specialist with extensive management experience in health policy, the pharmaceutical sector, and strategic business development. He holds a Master’s degree in International Economic Relations and Management from the University of National and World Economy and possesses additional qualifications in business and strategic management obtained in the United Kingdom and Japan.

Throughout his professional career, he has held leadership positions in both national and international pharmaceutical companies. He also served as Director of the Directorate for Medicinal Products, Medical Devices, Dietary Foods, and Aids at the National Health Insurance Fund.

Mr. Afenliev plays an active role in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors through participation in numerous Bulgarian and European industry organizations. His appointment is expected to strengthen the expert capacity of the Transparency Commission, which plays a key role in processes related to medicinal product policy in the country.
